Kids Get Into Aviation Art!

March 25, 2025

Originally published in 1996

One hundred seventy children from across Texas submitted artwork for the 1996 International Aviation Art Contest. The best artworks in each age category were selected as the state winners and runners up. All winners received a certificate and recognition from their state. First place artwork was forwarded to Washington, D.C. to participate in the national competition.

A couple of interesting happenstances occurred this year. First of all, two of the winners, Rhet Wylie and Roxanne Wylie are brother and sister! And secondly, all winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) in the Category Ill age group were from the same high school. Way to go guys—and way to go Harlandale High School!
