APPLE Program

March 28, 2025

Originally published in 1995

AOPA (Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association) takes pride in its efforts to enhance the aviation education of America’s young people. The APPLE Program (America’s Pilots Participating in Local Education) is the name of AOPA’s aviation education program. They believe aviation is a valuable teaching tool which can spark student’s interest in math, science, and almost any other subject. AOPA provides its members guidelines about whom to contact in the local school districts, tips on topics to discuss, and activities for the students. AOPA can provide teachers with “A Teacher’s Guide to Aviation” and a classroom kit. The APPLE Classroom Kit includes materials around which a classroom presentation may be developed. Diagrams, definitions, and explanations of airplanes and flight are included, as is a list of suggested activities. The pages may be copied for distribution to students. Resources are available at no cost to educators. Call Janette M. Prince at 1-800-USA-AOPA.
