Aviation Education
For those of us who have spent our entire careers in aviation, there exists a responsibility to ensure that adequate opportunities are afforded to encourage young people to begin careers in air transportation. Organizations like the Experimental Aircraft Association through their “Young Eagles” program and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association through their “Apple Program” ·(America’s Pilots Participating in Local Education), are making significant contributions to this effort.
We, at TxDOT Aviation Division, likewise feel an obligation to assist these young people in their aviation career development. As a result, we are increasing our commitment to aviation education through development of new programs to support this goal. As these programs evolve, we will continue to provide information about them. Any ideas you may have for new aviation education programs are welcome.
Aviation History
The State of Texas is a virtual treasure trove of aviation history. In upcoming articles we plan to feature some of the many museums and other aviation treasures throughout the state.
