At the pre-bid meeting for the Burnet Municipal Airport T-Hangar project, Robert Lansford of Lansford Company, Inc., had a lot of questions and seemed very interested in the Hangar Grant Program. When bids were opened in March, Lansford Company, Inc., was the low bid, and when Robert flew his Mooney M20E to the pre-construction meeting it became evident that he had more than just a business interest in hangar construction.
Robert has had a lifelong interest in aviation, and started work on his private pilot license three years ago, earning his ticket in 2004. Lansford Company, Inc., conducts business across the state, and Robert’s Mooney cuts his travel time to a wide variety of locations. Robert is working on his instrument rating to increase his opportunity to fly for business and recreation.
The hangar project in Burnet is nearing completion, and Lansford Company, Inc., is also working on a seven unit T-Hangar project at the Fayette Regional Airport in La Grange. Other TxDOT Hangar Grant projects in Snyder and Stephenville are close to competition, and hangar projects at Wilbarger County, Brazoria County, Giddings-Lee County, Taylor Municipal, Brenham Municipal and Athens Municipal airports are also bid and/ or under construction.
